Chinese Embroidery
The name China is written in gold in the history of embroidery. It is not limited to the immaculate Chinese silk, but includes the different styles that developed in the region. The contribution of Chinese Embroidery dates back to the Zhanguo period (5th-3rd BC).
The greatest attraction of the Chinese Embroidery is the Chain Stitch. It usually creates silk threads. The base material is silk. But in modern times, some artificial fabrics are also used as basic textiles. There are different variants of the Chinese silk and the Chain stitch also varies. The typical characteristic of Chinese Embroidery is very colorful and vibrant. But in some styles there is a prevalence of the color black.
Some of the predominant styles of Chinese Embroidery are Su Xiu, Xiang Xiu, Yue Xiu/ Guang Xiu and Shu Xiu and Gu Xiu. They display wide range of stitches, color schemes, thread types and exquisite skill. There is difference of subjects used for each of this kind of embroidery. Some natural themes work well, others are mainly graphical designs. The double sided embroidery is the other attraction of the authentic Chinese Embroidery. The other special attraction is the pattern texture. It creates a unique three dimensional effect. When created on fabrics like silk or satin it interplays with light to create a gorgeous design.
