The Indian men do not have many options in clothing like the Indian women. They mostly keep swinging between formal and casual wear. Some of the traditional Indian clothing also appears as a part of their wardrobe.
Most of the Indian mens clothing has been influenced by the ruler of the country during that particular period of time. Before mughals came in, most of the men wore cotton clothing known as dhoti along with a piece of cotton cloth covering their upper body. After the advent of the mughals, Indian mens clothing mostly changed into kurta and tight pants known as payajamas. As the British ruled the nation, they also made the British culture famous amongst Indian mens thus making them familiar with shirts and trousers.
The contemporary man is suave and fashionable. He wants his wardrobe to reflect his personality. So they make it a point that the colors they choose suits their personality and look like an extension of them. Smart casuals and stuff formals are a part of the modern Indian mens clothing. They consist of shirts, trousers, t-shirts, corduroys, khakis, tracks, polo necks and turtle necks. Besides the daily wear, the traditional Indian mens clothing comprises of kurta payajamas, sherwanis, jodhpuris and pathani suits. The ethnic wear is made of silk with heavy brocades and fine exquisite embroidery. Most of the time Indian mens clothing are accessorized with mozris and safas, making the collection of a conventional Indian men an interesting potpourri of colors, fashion, cuts and style.
